Fluoroscopy at VSH
At VSH, we incorporate the latest advances in medical technology to continually improve patient outcome. Fluoroscopy is a way to allow us to visualize areas within a patient’s body by using low doses of X-rays continuously to produce a real-time picture.

Fluoroscopy is a way to allow us to visualize areas within a patient’s body by using low doses of X-rays continuously to produce a real-time picture. Benefits of fluoroscopy include:
1) Smaller incisions
2) Faster recovery rates post-surgery
3) Decreased pain
4) Shorter anesthesia time
5) Shorter length of stay in hospital post-surgery compared to traditional approaches
6) Increased accuracy and precision of surgical procedures
During the fluoroscopy process, all staff wear lead gowns and neck covers to keep radiation exposure to a minimum. Compared to traditional surgery, implant placement can be checked on the spot, allowing procedures to be incredibly efficient.
New and emerging technology in veterinary practice means that our pets can live longer and healthier lives. With advanced training, experience, and incorporation of methods from human medicine, medical breakthroughs are no longer restricted to the human end of the leash.
