Partnering with Kadoorie Farm and Bausch + Lomb to restore sight to a wild Leopard Cat
Look what came through the door of VSH last week! A Leopard Cat from Kadoorie Farm and Botanical Garden.

This animal is native fauna in Hong Kong, and is protected under the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance Cap 170. Leopard cats are very beautiful, but are not tame. This guy arrived at KFBG because it was found wandering in the country park in Hong Kong, abnormal behavior which may have been related to altered sight. Dr. Alex Grioni at KFBG diagnosed cataract, which was confirmed on examination by Dr. Derek at VSH. Drs Alex and Derek worked together over the past 2 months to ensure the cat was healthy enough to proceed with cataract surgery.
The whole surgery was performed with combined sponsorship from VSH and Bausch + Lomb Hong Kong. Bausch + Lomb provided a specific artificial lens which was successfully implanted into this cat. Importantly, with restored vision, this beautiful animal will be released back into the country park of Hong Kong.
